Support for Recovery of Misdirected Money Transfers

Procedures

Procedures
  1. 1 Application Filing with the KDIC, The sender of an erroneous money transfer must first try to reclaim the money by letting his/her bank know what's happened and asking them to get the money returned. Only when that has not worked, the sender can file an application with the KDIC for assistance in recovering the missent funds. To do that, the KDIC purchases his/her claim for restitution of unjust enrichment.
  2. 2 Obtaining Information on the Recipient, The KDIC secures information on the contact details and address of the recipient from financial Institutions, mobile carriers, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and others.
  3. 3 Urging of Voluntarily Return of Funds, Using the information, the KDIC contacts the recipient to encourage voluntary return of the mistaken transfer.
  4. 4 Legal Action to Obtain a Payment Order in Case of Refusal, If the recipient of the erroneous money transfer refuses to return it, the KDIC asks the court to issue a payment order to initiate collection.
  5. 5 Paying the Recovered Amount Minus the KDIC's Costs to the Sender, When the recovery is completed, the KDIC pays the sender the recovered amount after deducting the costs incurred in the collection process.
