- In order to actively respond to changes in the financial environment and promote the organization¡¯s productivity
and efficiency, the KDIC has reduced the number of departments and reshuffled employees on all levels of the organization based on their past performance and skills.
In order to improve the organization¡¯s productivity and efficiency, the KDIC reduced the number of operative teams from 56 to 53. At the same time, two different departments which were responsible for ex-ante risk surveillance of and ex-post resolution of mutual savings banks were consolidated into the ¡®Department of Savings Bank Support¡¯.
The consolidation of the two departments will enable the KDIC to strengthen its function of maintaining sound management of the deposit insurance fund by preventing failures of mutual savings banks. It will also encourage mutual savings banks to manage their own affairs more prudently. These efforts are all aimed at revitalizing MSBs¡¯ business of granting small loans to the middle class.
The newly established Department of Deposit Insurance Policy will enable the corporation to respond to the recent changes in the financial market such as financial institutions expanding their scope of business into areas traditionally covered by other financial sectors and the tendency of financial products to become more complex thus laying a foundation to advance the deposit insurance system as well.
The Customer Satisfaction Center is now under direct control of the Executive Vice President in an effort to strengthen the publication to and the education of the unsophisticated public such as the elderly and people from low-income brackets who are more vulnerable to financial damages caused by the failures of financial institutions.
