- 1. Overview
The KDIC hosted the 2011 Global-KDIC Workshop that lasted two days from November 2 (Wed.) to 3 (Thu.) at the conference room on the 2nd floor of its building. At the workshop, 29 financial safety-net policymakers and officials from Bhutan, Mongolia, Nepal and Tanzania had a chance to listen to the KDIC¡¯s experiences in implementing the deposit insurance system and discuss how to enhance cooperation in the future.
2. Background
Recently, in support of the Korean government¡¯s Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) , the KDIC chose its Global-KDIC KSP as a project for sustainable development and shared its experience to help the international community to build a financial infrastructure and implement an effective deposit insurance system. As part of the project, the KDIC is now providing policy consultation and training to countries that have newly adopted or are considering adopting deposit insurance.
3. Workshop Program
The workshop was held at the request of participating nations including Tanzania which is preparing for the establishment of an independent deposit insurance agency. The KDIC focused on seven major activities including fund management, failure resolution and risk management and shared its experience in each area. At the end of the workshop, there was a discussion about how the KDIC can provide further support and how to promote international cooperation.
